Jerusalem, 8 April, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Costa Rican President Rodrigo Chaves announced that Costa Rica has designated Iran’s Revolutionary Guards, Hezbollah, Hamas, and the Houthis as terrorist organizations, in a move welcomed by Israel as part of a broader push against Iran-backed terror networks.

Israel’s Foreign Ministry said Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar has been leading an international effort to promote similar designations worldwide, adding that 42 countries have labeled the IRGC as a terrorist organization over the past year.

Sa’ar praised Chaves and his government for what he called “moral leadership” in taking the step. He said the decision strengthens the international coalition against terrorism backed by Iran and helps improve security in both the Middle East and the Western Hemisphere.
