Jerusalem, 20 August, 2026 (TPS-IL) — The head of Israel’s Privacy Protection Authority has contacted political parties following a ruling by the Chairman of the Central Elections Committee in an election petition, regarding the transfer of information about a person’s voting and presence at a polling station.
The Central Elections Committee chairman ruled that transferring information about a person’s presence at a polling station to exercise their right to vote, or about the fact that a person voted, for the purpose of parties’ efforts to encourage voter turnout and manage their election campaigns, constitutes a prohibited violation of privacy under the Privacy Protection Law.
The Privacy Protection Authority’s outreach is intended to ensure parties comply with the ruling ahead of the upcoming election.
