Jerusalem, 15 October, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s Central Elections Committee and the Ministry of Welfare and Social Security have announced a national initiative to deploy accessible polling stations across approximately 90 welfare facilities ahead of the 26th Knesset elections.
Ordered by Central Elections Committee Chairman Justice Noam Sohlberg, the initiative provides secure voting access without disrupting essential care. Tailored polling arrangements will serve over 6,200 mobility-impaired residents across 62 institutions, approximately 220 women in 17 domestic violence shelters, and nearly 900 individuals in ten closed addiction treatment and rehabilitation facilities. Ministry welfare officials and election supervisors are coordinating logistical setups and administrative oversight directly with facility directors to safeguard universal suffrage and electoral integrity for vulnerable populations nationwide.
