Jerusalem, 7 September, 2026 (TPS-IL) — The High Court of Justice on Monday issued an injunction concerning the transfer of voter information from polling stations to political parties. The court ordered the Central Elections Committee to explain why its decision allowing the transfer of such information should not be overturned.
On Sunday, the committee reversed the decision of its chairman, Supreme Court Justice Noam Sohlberg, and ruled that the “Elector” app could be used in the Knesset elections.
The app allows political parties to track in real time which voters have or have not cast ballots. Parties can then send activists to encourage people who have not yet voted to do so.
Justices Yael Wilner, Alex Stein and Khaled Kabub called for clear rules barring polling station officials from sharing information about a person’s presence at the polling station, whether they voted, or the circumstances of their vote.
