TPS: Eisenkot Denies Promising Mansour Abbas Government Position
Gadi Eisenkot, leader of Yashar!, denied reports of promising Ra’am chairman Mansour Abbas a government position, emphasizing core principles for partnerships.
Jerusalem, 16 September, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Yashar! party leader Gadi Eisenkot denied Israeli media reports that he had promised Ra’am chairman Mansour Abbas a place in a future government he would form.
Eisenkot called the report “an absolute lie” and said he does not promise political leaders government positions.
Eisenkot said he would include parties that accept three principles: Israel as a Jewish and democratic state with a solid Jewish majority; the values of the Declaration of Independence; and the obligation to serve in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), national service or civil service.
“Whoever does not accept these three principles will not be a partner,” he said.
Elections are scheduled for October 27. Polls show Yashar! ahead of the Likud party, but also show that Eisenkot’s bloc does not have a clear Knesset majority.
