Jerusalem, 9 October, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Rescue teams were dispatched to Nahal Og in the Judean Desert after a cyclist fell from a significant height. His medical condition was initially unknown.
Volunteers from the Dead Sea Scrolls Rescue Unit of the Israel Police’s Judea and Samaria District headed to the scene to assist in the rescue operation. Medical personnel, specialized rope-access and rescue teams, and drone operators were also deployed to locate and reach the injured cyclist.
An Israeli Air Force helicopter carrying rescuers from Unit 669, the military’s elite search-and-rescue unit, was dispatched to support the operation and assist with evacuating the casualty.
The challenging terrain of Nahal Og, a popular hiking destination in the Judean Desert, can complicate rescue efforts following falls from steep cliffs. Authorities had not yet released further details about the cyclist’s condition.
