Jerusalem, 27 October, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Volunteers from the Israel Police Megillot Search and Rescue Unit dispatched across the northern Judean Desert on Tuesday following heavy rainfall that triggered significant flash flooding near the northern Dead Sea.

Search and rescue teams responded to several simultaneous emergencies created by surging riverbeds. Rescuers were deployed to extract a couple whose jeep became trapped by rising currents at Nahal Tur, as well as a group of hikers stranded in a vehicle at Nahal Og.

Concurrently, teams scanned Route 90 between Kalia and Metzoke Dragot following a reported traffic collision. Police swift-water units remain on active duty across all affected sites, with an Israeli Air Force helicopter placed on immediate standby to assist in potential aerial evacuations.
