100 New Israeli Data Centers Vying for Permits
Noga reports 100 Israeli data centers are vying for permits, but the nation's power grid can only accommodate 2,000 megawatts of new demand.
Jerusalem, 26 August, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Noga, Israel’s electricity system manager, has released a list of 100 planned data centers seeking permits to operate across the country, from Beersheba in the south to Kiryat Shmona up north.
Together, the projects would require about 27,000 megawatts of electricity. However, Israel’s power grid can handle only about 2,000 megawatts of new demand in the coming years. This means that less than one in 10 projects is likely to connect to the grid.
So far, 31 applications have passed Noga’s initial review and were returned to developers for further planning.
Building data centers with a combined capacity of 2,000 megawatts would require an estimated investment of $100 billion.
The Electricity Authority believes many developers applied simply to “reserve a spot” and may later try to sell or trade their permits, rather than build the projects themselves.
