Israel Reinforces Rescue Units Ahead of Weekend Flood Threat
Israel's Fire and Rescue Service is on high alert for weekend flooding, reinforcing rescue teams and the 102 emergency hotline ahead of heavy rain.
Jerusalem, 27 August, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s Fire and Rescue Service raised its alert level Thursday ahead of an unusual weather system expected to bring strong winds and heavy rainfall beginning Saturday, with the system forecast to peak overnight into Sunday.
Water-rescue teams and other specialized units have been reinforced in areas considered at risk for flooding, while additional personnel will staff the 102 emergency hotline.
The Fire and Rescue Service urged the public to avoid flooded roads and underground areas and warned against approaching or crossing streams, even where water appears shallow.
