Jerusalem, 27 August, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israel will reactivate its state-backed cargo insurance program against war and terrorism risks starting Sept. 1, the Finance Ministry and Tax Authority announced Thursday.

The program, operated through the Tax Authority’s compensation fund, is designed to maintain trade and the supply of essential goods amid security risks. It previously insured cargo worth more than $1 billion for dozens of importers and exporters. The program was renewed following requests from businesses and concerns over private insurers’ ability to provide coverage.
