Tel Aviv Police Foil Arms Transfers
Tel Aviv police thwarted arms transfers to criminal groups, arresting three men and seizing grenades, pistols, and ammunition in recent operations.
Jerusalem, 27 August, 2026 (TPS-IL) — As part of its fight against organized crime, Tel Aviv police carried out a targeted operation to stop weapons from reaching criminal organizations.
On August 4, detectives stopped a vehicle on Route 6 near the Nitzanei Oz interchange. The 35-year-old Bat Yam driver was suspected of illegally transporting weapons. A search of the trunk found two standard Army fragmentation grenades.
On August 16, detectives searched the home of another suspect, in his 30s, in Tel Aviv, finding two Army grenades, two 9mm Beretta pistols, and ammunition magazines.
The investigation then led police to a third suspect, a man in his 20s from northern Israel, who allegedly supplied the weapons. He was arrested on August 19.
All three suspects face weapons trafficking and possession charges. An indictment and request to keep them in custody are expected in the coming days.
