TPS: CPI Rises 0.7% in August 2026

Israel's Consumer Price Index rose 0.7% in August 2026, driven by higher vegetable and transportation costs, with annual inflation at 1.5%.

Jerusalem, 17 September, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s Central Bureau of Statistics reported that the Consumer Price Index rose 0.7% in August 2026 compared to July, with annual inflation running at 1.5% year-on-year and 2.1% since the start of the year.

Notable price increases were seen in fresh vegetables, up 2.9%, transportation, up 2.7%, and culture and entertainment, up 2.0%. Housing costs rose 0.6%.

Prices fell in several categories, including fresh fruit, down 2.0%, clothing, down 0.8%, and food, down 0.5%.

Excluding energy, the index rose 0.6% for the month and 1.3% over the past year, reflecting relatively moderate underlying inflation.

The current annual rate remains within the Bank of Israel’s target range of 1% to 3%.
