Jerusalem, 31 October, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Yashar chairman Gadi Eisenkot declared Saturday night that he intends to immediately translate the opposition’s electoral support into parliamentary action, arguing that a majority of Israelis voted for political change.

“Whichever way you look at the numbers, a majority of Israeli citizens, by more than half a million votes, voted against the October 7 government and draft evasion, and in favor of change,” he said.

Eisenkot pledged to pursue the immediate establishment of a state commission of inquiry, universal military service, expanded IDF manpower, and improved compensation and recognition for those serving.

He also called for repealing legislation associated with the judicial overhaul. “Do not let anyone mislead you: In the State of Israel, the Knesset is the body that gives its confidence to the government, not the other way around,” he said.
