Jerusalem, 17 September, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Two suspects have been arrested by the Judea and Samaria District’s Central Unit (Yamar) and the Shin Bet in connection with an attempted lynching of a mother and son who accidentally drove into the Palestinian city of Jenin. Police say the indictment is expected once the investigation concludes.
On August 13, a driver traveling from Samaria toward Afula mistakenly entered Jenin. A crowd, noticing the car’s Israeli plates, surrounded and blocked the vehicle, with several assailants smashing its windows in an attempt to lynch the occupants. The two Israelis managed to escape and were handed over to Israeli security forces.
following the joint Yamar–Shin Bet investigation, two suspects were arrested, questioned, and jailed, with their custody periodically extended. With the evidentiary basis now complete, prosecutors have filed a notice of intent to indict them in the coming days.
