Jerusalem, 26 October, 2026 (TPS-IL) — An Israeli court has ordered Pinchas (Hasi) Ran, security coordinator for the Gidonim Ridge community, to be transferred to house arrest in the Golan Heights.

Ran is charged with aggravated intentional injury and obstruction of justice following a shooting that seriously wounded a woman near the Palestinian village of Aqraba.

According to Ran’s account, he fired in the air after a vehicle attempted to run him and another soldier over.

The Jerusalem District Court considered his military service, lack of criminal record, commanders’ recommendations, and his record of saving fellow soldiers in combat. Judge Elad Persky said there was no objective evidence establishing exactly what happened when the vehicle and security patrol vehicle passed each other.

The judge also rejected the prosecution’s argument that Ran posed a concrete risk of obstructing proceedings, finding the likelihood of another similar incident very low.
