Jerusalem, 14 September, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israeli Police arrested five suspects over the weekend during targeted enforcement operations against illegal weapons possession in the southern Bedouin city of Rahat, part of ongoing efforts to combat gun crime and criminal activity in the area.

In one operation, a search yielded a shotgun, pistol and rifle magazines, and hundreds of rounds of ammunition; two Rahat residents were detained for questioning.

In a separate incident at Rahat’s entrance, police stopped a speeding vehicle carrying three Ramla residents, finding a knife and a Glock 17 pistol with a loaded magazine. All three were arrested and the vehicle impounded.

Rahat, Israel’s largest Bedouin city, has seen recurring police operations targeting illegal weapons and organized crime in recent years.
