Jerusalem, 7 October, 2026 (TPS-IL) — JERUSALEM — Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar welcomed Paraguayan Vice President Pedro Alliana to Israel on Wednesday for his first official visit, accompanied by Foreign Minister Rubén Ramírez Lezcano and Environment Minister Rolando de Barros Barreto.

Sa’ar lauded Paraguay as “one of Israel’s closest and most steadfast friends,” praising Asunción’s unwavering support against terrorism and antisemitism since the October 7 attacks. “We remember who stands with us in difficult times,” Sa’ar emphasized.

During his visit, Alliana toured the Yad Vashem Holocaust Memorial in Jerusalem, drawing parallels between Paraguay’s historic resilience following the War of the Triple Alliance and the Jewish people’s endurance, reaffirming Asunción’s commitment to combat hatred and antisemitism globally.
