Jerusalem, 8 October, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Passenger vehicle imports to Israel reached 20,486 units in September 2026, up 5.5% from 19,413 in September 2025, the Tax Authority reported. Commercial vehicle imports rose 8.7% to 784 units. While High Holy Day observances kept monthly totals below average, September figures still surpassed 2025 levels.

For the January–September 2026 period, overall vehicle imports surged 42.3% to 222,160 units, compared to 156,115 during the same nine-month period last year. Officials from the Tax Authority attributed the sharp year-to-date increase to a favorable U.S. dollar exchange rate through mid-2026 and a low comparison baseline in 2025 caused by extensive advance vehicle imports in late 2024 ahead of tax policy adjustments.
