Jerusalem, 8 October, 2026 (TPS-IL) — The Israeli military said it killed Muhammad Muhsen Nimr Yazji, a commander in Hamas’s Shati Battalion, in a strike in the Gaza City area on Monday. The IDF (Israel Defense Forces) said Yazji was involved in holding hostages during the war, including Emily Damari, Romi Gonen, and Matan Angrest, all of whom have since been released.

In a separate strike Tuesday in the Sabra area, the IDF said it killed Muhammad Fawzi Muhammad Awad Gamal, a Hamas operative in the Daraj Tuffah Battalion.

The military said both men of recently planning attacks against Israeli forces and civilians in violation of the ceasefire, and said precautions were taken to limit civilian harm.
