Security Measures for Israeli Political Party Leaders Increased
Israel's Shin Bet announces new security measures for political party leaders, including continuous threat assessments and authorized firearms for private.
Jerusalem, 29 September, 2026 (TPS-IL) — JERUSALEM — Israel’s domestic security agency, the Shin Bet, has unveiled a new security framework for political party leaders following a decision by the Ministerial Committee, agency Director David Zini announced.
Under the updated guidelines, Shin Bet intelligence units will continuously monitor and construct threat assessments for all party leaders. Additionally, private security firms hired by party heads will now be authorized to carry firearms, even without specific intelligence pointing to a concrete threat.
The agency’s Security Division will maintain direct coordination with party leaders and their private security details to streamline protocols. the Shin Bet confirmed it will conduct regular situation assessments to adjust individual security levels dynamic to changing threat landscapes.
