Report: Egyptian Contractors Enter Gaza to Survey Site for Green Rafah
Egyptian contractors surveyed eastern Rafah for the UAE-funded "Green Rafah" housing project, reportedly approved by PM Netanyahu.
Jerusalem, 30 September, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Egyptian contractors entered eastern Rafah in the Gaza Strip on Tuesday and conducted engineering surveys inside the area designated as the “Yellow Line,” according to Israeli media reports.
The contractors spent several hours taking measurements as preparations began for the planned “Green Rafah” development.
The entry was reportedly coordinated with the IDF Southern Command, with the contractors operating under close Israeli military escort and aerial surveillance. The project is being fully funded and managed by the United Arab Emirates, with final approval reportedly granted one day after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited the UAE this week.
The planned neighborhood is intended to house tens of thousands of Gazans in an area outside Hamas control. The project is moving forward with Israeli political approval despite previous statements by Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz that Gaza reconstruction would not be permitted before the complete disarmament of Hamas.
