Jerusalem, 1 November, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s Ministry of Transport has officially enacted annual winter driving regulations requiring all vehicles to keep headlights illuminated on intercity highways during daylight hours starting November 1, 2026.
The mandate, which remains in effect through March 31, 2027, aims to enhance road safety and vehicle visibility during adverse seasonal weather.
Commercial transport—including buses, taxis, and heavy trucks over 15 tons—must maintain daytime lighting on both urban and intercity routes, while motorcycles are bound by year-round daytime headlight requirements.
Transport authorities urged motorists to ensure full compliance and perform seasonal vehicle safety inspections covering brakes, tires, lighting systems, and wipers to minimize winter traffic hazards.
