Jerusalem, 17 September, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s Ministry of Transport and Road Safety launched a new national guide for traffic arrangements at urban work sites, aiming to cut bureaucracy and save local authorities hundreds of millions of shekels annually while significantly shortening project timelines.
The guide, the first of its kind in Israel, allows roughly 300 local authorities to use pre-approved generic traffic diagrams for common scenarios — such as lane closures, sidewalk work, and intersection changes — instead of preparing and approving individual plans for each job.
Officials said the reform, developed over several years with the Israel Police and Ayalon Highways Company, eliminates a lengthy and costly planning process previously required even for routine repairs.
