Jerusalem, 1 November, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s Central Bureau of Statistics has released traffic casualty figures to mark the start of National Road Safety Week, reporting 299 road fatalities between January and August 2026.

The figure marks a 3.5% decrease compared to the same period in 2025, though fatal incidents remain 15.1% higher than the 2022–2024 multi-year average.

Notably, road deaths within the Arab sector rose by 21.6% to 118 fatalities, including 13 children.

Overall casualties and total injury-causing accidents saw sharp declines, falling nearly 20% year-over-year according to Israel Police data.

The publication of the dataset comes as transportation authorities launch targeted seasonal enforcement and public awareness campaigns nationwide.
