Jerusalem, 14 October, 2026 (TPS-IL) — The trial of an alleged Hamas terrorist network in Cyprus took a turn Wednesday at Larnaca Criminal Court when prosecutors dropped charges against a 33-year-old Palestinian in the joint trial. He reportedly confessed and offered to testify against his co-defendants. He faces separate proceedings on October 26.

The five Palestinians, aged 32-54, are accused of plotting terrorist attacks on Israeli targets in Cyprus through a network that allegedly recruited Palestinians trained in Malaysia.

A 41-year-old arrested in July allegedly headed the Cyprus operation, while a 38-year-old physics teacher allegedly manufactured explosives. Investigators found hazardous chemicals and bomb-making equipment at properties in Limassol and Larnaca.

Proceedings against the remaining four defendants were adjourned after defense lawyers requested further evidence. The court will decide on October 16 whether to release the 54-year-old defendant, who remains in custody, following his renewed application.
