Jerusalem, 1 November, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s National Cyber Directorate warned Sunday of a wave of automated phone calls impersonating official Google security alerts and claiming suspicious activity originating in Tehran, Iran.

The prerecorded messages, delivered in English, tell recipients that the phone number linked to their Google account has been changed without authorization. Callers are instructed to press 1 if they did not approve the change.

The directorate said the calls are fraudulent attempts to frighten recipients into responding under pressure. Receiving one does not mean an account has been hacked or that any Iranian activity actually occurred.

The public is urged to hang up immediately, avoid pressing any numbers, and never disclose passwords or SMS verification codes, nor approve unfamiliar account changes. Anyone concerned should check their account directly through Google’s official website or app. Those affected can report the incident to the directorate’s 119 hotline.
