Jerusalem, 27 October, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Voter turnout in the 26th Knesset election has reached its highest level in 53 years, the Central Elections Committee announced Tuesday. According to the updated figure, 31.5% of eligible voters cast their ballots between the opening of polling stations and noon.

The last time turnout was this high was in 1973, in the election held shortly after the Yom Kippur War.

The figure is up from the 16.68% reported as of 10:00, which was described as the highest at that hour since 1981. Turnout has stayed strong despite complaints of disruptions at some polling stations, including alleged ballot tampering and delays.

Polls remain open, and the committee is expected to publish further updates through the day.
