Jerusalem, 27 October, 2026 (TPS-IL) — A 94-year-old man died in Ramat Gan after casting his ballot in Israel’s Knesset elections on Tuesday, Israeli media reported.
Emergency responders were called to the scene after the elderly voter, Israel Kreiss, collapsed. Despite efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead.
Kreis collapsed and died at the entrance to his residential building after returning from the polling station. ZAKA said it was assisting the family, and his daughter thanked them. She said Kreis insisted on fulfilling his right to vote. “Dad returned after exercising his democratic right. He is an example to us all,” she said.
Kreis was 16 when the Jewish state was established. He became eligible to vote for the first time in 1950.
