Jerusalem, 11 October, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told Likud lawmakers on Sunday that securing the support represented by former IDF Brig. Gen. Ofer Winter’s Amcha Yisrael party could be decisive in the October 27 Knesset election.
Speaking at a Likud faction meeting, Netanyahu stressed the importance of consolidating right-wing support to secure victory.
Winter, who entered politics after a distinguished military career, is running independently after rejecting calls to merge his party with other right-wing lists. His Amcha Yisrael party has attracted voters seeking a new political alternative, creating concern within the Likud camp that it could draw votes away from Netanyahu’s bloc.
Winter has declared that his party belongs to the right-wing camp and will recommend Netanyahu for prime minister. However, whether his party’s votes will translate into parliamentary seats remains uncertain, as parties must cross Israel’s 3.25% electoral threshold to enter the Knesset.
