Jerusalem, 9 October, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Gudar, a new Israeli community in the northern Jordan Valley, is set to be formally recognized next week, completing a process that began with the Security Cabinet’s approval on Jerusalem Day 2025, alongside 21 other sites in Judea and Samaria.
The settlement sits at the foot of Mount Gadir near Nahal Melcha, on Route 5799 between Tubas and Mishkenot, at an elevation of about 150 meters. It stands on the ruins of an abandoned IDF paratroopers’ base.
Earlier attempts to settle the site came in 2018 and 2021, and in 2025 it was re-established as an agricultural farm. The government naming committee chose “Gudar” after the nearby mountain.
Roughly a dozen families moved in early on. Gudar falls under the Jordan Valley Regional Council, which plans 200 to 400 housing units there.
