Jerusalem, 29 October, 2026 (TPS-IL) — President Isaac Herzog called for a full investigation into allegations of election interference Thursday, urging authorities to hold those responsible accountable while warning against casting suspicion on Israeli-Arab voters as a whole.
“The integrity of our elections is a supreme democratic value,” Herzog said in Jerusalem.
“This is a sensitive moment, so let me be clear: The integrity of our elections is a supreme democratic value. The evidence and the allegations must be fully investigated, and those responsible must be arrested and held accountable according to the full extent of the law,” he said. “But even at a moment like this, we must not tarnish an entire community that sought to exercise its right to vote and take an active part in democracy.”
Herzog said he spoke with Central Elections Committee Chairman Noam Sohlberg and Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet) chief David Zini and urged political leaders to prioritize the country’s interests during next week’s consultations on forming a government.
