Jerusalem, 22 October, 2026 (TPS-IL) — El Al became the latest Israeli airline to suspend flights to Marrakech, Morocco, amid security restrictions affecting air travel to the North African country.

The airline announced Thursday that its Sun D’or subsidiary was postponing the launch of its planned direct service to Marrakech, originally scheduled for Nov. 16. Flights to the city are cancelled through Dec. 15 for unspecified security reasons.

“We remain in constant contact with security authorities and relevant government bodies to obtain the necessary approvals for operating this route, and we will provide further updates accordingly,” Israel’s flagship airline said.

Passengers affected by the cancellations can receive a full refund, a credit voucher or rebook flights to European destinations served by El Al or Sun D’or at no additional cost.

The announcement follows similar uncertainty at other Israeli airlines. Arkia Israel Airlines stopped selling tickets to Marrakech on Wednesday at the request of Israeli security officials, while Israir suspended sales last week as it sought clarification of new security directives.

Arkia, which restarted direct Marrakech flights two months ago after a three-year hiatus, is exploring alternatives, including flights through commercial partners, if Israeli authorities halt service by Israeli carriers.
