Jerusalem, 15 October, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s Health Ministry on Thursday announced a recall of Jerusalem-style kishke, following a food safety concern. Consumers are advised to check the product details and avoid eating affected packages.
Kishke is a traditional Eastern European sausage made from fat mixed with grain or potatoes and stuffed into an intestine or casing. Popular throughout Eastern Europe, it is also a familiar dish in Ashkenazi Jewish cuisine, often served alongside cholent for Shabbat lunch. The name means “intestine” in Slavic languages.
The ministry’s recall notice identifies the affected product, made by A. Arba’a Katzavim Besarim Ltd. (Literally: A. Four Butchers Meats Ltd.). Consumers should follow its instructions regarding returns and disposal. Food recalls are issued to protect the public when a product may pose a health risk.
Consumers who have purchased the recalled kishke should consult the ministry’s official announcement for the precise product identification and recall instructions.
