Jerusalem, 8 November, 2026 (TPS-IL) — The Sea of Galilee has recorded its first rise of the season, gaining one centimeter, offering an early sign of improvement in Israel’s main freshwater reservoir.
The increase comes as the country enters the rainy season, when rainfall and runoff from northern Israel typically begin replenishing the lake. However, a one-centimeter rise remains modest and does not yet signal a significant improvement in water levels.
The Sea of Galilee, also known as Lake Kinneret, is a major indicator of Israel’s water conditions and is closely monitored throughout the year.
Further rainfall over the coming weeks will determine whether the initial increase develops into a sustained seasonal recovery. Israel’s water authorities continue monitoring the lake’s level as the winter precipitation season gets underway.
