All Israeli Desalination Plants Operational Following Microalgae Disruptions
Israel's Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure confirms all desalination plants are operational after microalgae bloom disruptions, maintaining water supply.
Jerusalem, 14 September, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s water sector remains stable, with all desalination plants operational, the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure and Water Authority said Monday. Two plants are operating at full capacity and others at partial capacity, while water supplies to households and agriculture continue as usual.
Authorities have also reduced pumping from the Sea of Galilee and boreholes amid lower holiday consumption.
The announcement follows disruptions to the nation’s desalination plants by a massive microalgae bloom in early September.
