Jerusalem, 28 September, 2026 (TPS-IL) — The US dollar climbed sharply Against the shekel on Monday, approaching NIS 3.08, as the Israeli currency came under renewed pressure in foreign-exchange trading.

The move marked another significant weakening of the shekel after the dollar traded around NIS 3.05 earlier in the day. The Bank of Israel’s representative rate stood at NIS 3.0660 per dollar, up 1.09% on the day.

Real-time trading later put the dollar above NIS 3.07, with the currency pair reaching a daily high of about NIS 3.075.

The latest move comes after a period of renewed volatility in the shekel, with markets closely watching developments affecting Israel’s risk premium and global currency markets.

The dollar’s rise increases the cost of imported goods and other purchases priced in foreign currency, while providing a boost to Israeli exporters whose revenues are denominated in dollars.
