Foreign Ministry Warns Israelis Traveling to Netherlands: Expect Lengthy, Intrusive Baggage Checks
Israelis traveling to the Netherlands should prepare for lengthy baggage checks at Schiphol Airport due to new Dutch restrictions on products from Judea.
Jerusalem, 28 September, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s Foreign Ministry is warning Israelis traveling to the Netherlands to expect lengthy and extensive baggage inspections following the Dutch government’s new restrictions on products originating in Israeli Communities in Judea, Samaria and the Golan Heights.
The restrictions, which took effect September 22 and began being enforced yesterday, apply not only to commercial imports but also to products carried by individual travelers, including food, wine, souvenirs and other personal items.
Dutch customs officials have warned that travelers may be required to prove where products were made.
The foreign ministry urged Israelis to familiarize themselves with the rules before traveling and prepare for potentially extended inspections at Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport.
Intentional violations of the Dutch restrictions can result in substantial fines and, in serious cases, prison sentences.
