Netherlands Warns of Response After Israel Strips Ramallah Diplomats of Status
The Netherlands is considering its response after Israel revoked the diplomatic status of Dutch diplomats in Ramallah following a ban on settlement products.
Jerusalem, 28 September, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Dutch Foreign Minister Tom Brandsen expressed regret over Israel’s decision to revoke the diplomatic status of Dutch diplomats in Ramallah, calling it “unnecessary” and saying Amsterdam is considering its response.
Israel’s decision followed a Dutch order banning the import and trade of products from Judea and Samaria, eastern Jerusalem and the Golan Heights. Reports also said Israeli travelers arriving at Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport underwent strict checks to ensure they were not carrying products from Judea and Samaria.
Brandsen said the temporary sanctions were “not directed against Israel,” but instead reflected the Netherlands’ commitment not to contribute to what it considers the “illegal situation” created by Israeli settlements.
