Jerusalem, 6 November, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Just five days into a nationwide military equipment return campaign, the IDF has already recovered enough gear to equip several companies.
Launched earlier this week by the IDF Technology and Logistics Directorate, the initiative allows the public to return military equipment at 36 bases nationwide without providing identification or facing criminal or disciplinary proceedings.
As of Thursday, returns included more than 100,000 rifle and machine-gun rounds, over 1,660 explosive devices and weapons items, and approximately 118 firearms, including pistols, rifles and even a MAG machine gun. Grenades and explosive charges were also among the recovered items, posing potential dangers in civilian areas.
More than 1,270 clothing and textile items and around 150 tactical vests and combat carriers were also returned.
Returned equipment undergoes inspection. Police bomb technicians initially examine explosives before IDF specialists assess them. Unserviceable items are sent for disposal.
