The undercover operative was activated in the heart of serious crime, targeting significant pre-identified targets by the Israel Police, involved in arms trafficking, drugs, and the distribution of counterfeit money. During this period, the operative gained the trust of criminals, met with them, and acquired deadly weapons from them. In addition, large quantities of ecstasy drugs and dozens of counterfeit banknotes, intended for distribution and flooding the streets, with an emphasis on the Jerusalem area, were acquired. Tonight, after a meticulous operational plan was devised, the operation moved to its overt phase, and large forces of the Israel Police raided the homes of 24 suspects (East Jerusalem and Judea and Samaria) who were implicated during the operative’s activation. The suspects were arrested and transferred for investigation. In the morning, upon completion of the arrests, the operative’s exposure ceremony took place in the Jerusalem District, in the presence of the Police Commissioner and the Commander of the Jerusalem District, during which all the acquired weapons were presented. Police Commissioner, R.N.C. Danny Levy: “The impressive operation by the Central Unit in the Jerusalem District proves once again the sophistication, audacity, and offensive capabilities of the Israel Police in the determined fight against serious crime, and we operate this way throughout the country, and as evidence, a large portion of the heads of criminal organizations are today behind bars.” Commander of the Jerusalem District, Superintendent Absalom Peled: “The activation and exposure of the operative tonight are nothing less than an earthquake in the local crime world in East Jerusalem. The infiltration of the operative into the very heart of the arms trafficking networks, and the implication of dozens of suspects, constitutes a fatal blow to the lifelines of serious crime.”
