Jerusalem, 1 November, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s Fire and Rescue Authority has issued a 30-day administrative closure order against the “Tzeirei Hashlichim Habogrim” Yeshiva in Safed due to critical fire safety hazards.
Northern District Commander Yair Elkayam signed the emergency shutdown under Section 51 of the Fire and Rescue Law following a routine site inspection.
Officials discovered the facility was illegally operating an unapproved residential boarding school lacking mandatory life-saving equipment, fire suppression systems, and emergency exits. Authorities cited an immediate, tangible risk to student safety, ordering all activities halted through late November.
The enforcement action underscores a nationwide regulatory campaign targeting unpermitted religious boarding facilities to ensure compliance with strict structural safety codes.
