Jerusalem, 25 October, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Druze protesters have blocked Highway 6 southbound at the Elyakim Interchange east of Haifa, burning tires and halting traffic in a spontaneous demonstration.
The protest erupted following a violent weekend incident in Tel Aviv, where several young Druze men, including off-duty soldiers, were reportedly assaulted and stabbed after being heard speaking Arabic.
Police forces from the Northern District and Traffic Division are on-site redirecting vehicles, causing heavy congestion from Yoqneam to Ein Tut. Firefighters are working to extinguish the burning tires to clear the lanes. Drivers are strongly advised to avoid the area and seek alternative routes.
