Election Committee to Hold Hearing on Efforts to Bring Israelis Abroad Home to Vote
The Central Elections Committee will hold a hearing on October 6th regarding Likud's petition to facilitate expat Israelis voting in the upcoming elections.
Jerusalem, 30 September, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Central Elections Committee Chairman Judge Noam Solberg has scheduled an Oct. 6 hearing on a petition filed by the Likud party concerning organizations working to bring Israelis living abroad to Israel to vote in the elections.
The hearing is an unusual step, as the petition had previously been handled through written submissions. Solberg said the hearing would allow a deeper examination of the factual claims and evidence, including possible questioning of declarants.
Solberg also requested additional details from the government’s legal adviser and representatives of the company involved.
An estimated 1 million Israelis live abroad, although not all are eligible to vote. Israelis living overseas generally must return to Israel to cast their ballots. Elections are scheduled for Oct. 27.
