Shin Bet Will Not Provide Security for Gadi Eisenkot
Shin Bet will not offer personal security to Gadi Eisenkot, citing intelligence assessments, but will provide broader threat monitoring for Yashar Party.
Jerusalem, 29 September, 2026 (TPS-IL) — The Shin Bet has informed the Yashar Party that it does not currently intend to provide personal security for party leader and former IDF Chief of Staff Gadi Eisenkot, the party said Tuesday. The decision reportedly differs from the recommendation of the advisory committee on VIP security.
At the same time, Shin Bet Director David Zini approved measures intended to provide security coverage for party leaders ahead of the election.
Shin Bet intelligence units will monitor threats and build updated threat assessments around party leaders. Private security teams may also receive authorization to carry firearms, even without specific intelligence indicating a threat.
Eisenkot is currently protected by a private security company. the Shin Bet has previously said Zini bears sole responsibility for the decision not to provide him with direct protection.
