TPS: Kafr Qasem Firefighter Accused of Plotting Terror Attacks
A 19-year-old Kafr Qasem firefighter volunteer has been arrested on suspicion of plotting terror attacks against strategic infrastructure.
Jerusalem, 14 September, 2026 (TPS-IL) — A 19-year-old Kafr Qasem resident who served as a national-service volunteer with Israel Fire and Rescue Services has been arrested on suspicion of promoting terrorism, attempting to establish a terror cell, and planning attacks on strategic infrastructure.
The case was investigated covertly over the past month by the Sharon District Police’s central unit and the Shin Bet. An indictment is expected Tuesday.
According to investigators, the suspect exploited his access and knowledge gained at a central Israel fire station to identify at least one sensitive strategic facility as a preferred target. He allegedly contacted Hamas terrorists and an individual linked to Iranian intelligence, obtaining combat manuals and instructions for assembling explosives and attempting to produce explosive devices.
The suspect reportedly became interested in terrorism at 16 and allegedly tried to recruit two acquaintances to his cell. They were released for lack of sufficient evidence.
