TPS: IDF Veteran From Raanana Killed in Paragliding Crash Near Medelln, Colombia
IDF veteran Noam Maman, 23, from Ra'anana, was killed in a paragliding accident near Medellín, Colombia, during a post-service trip.
Jerusalem, 18 September, 2026 (TPS-IL) — A 23-year-old IDF veteran was killed Thursday in a paragliding accident near Medellín, Colombia, during a post-service trip. According to Israeli and Colombian reports, the victim was identified as Noam Maman, a Ra’anana resident.
Maman was taking a tandem paragliding flight with a Colombian instructor in the San Félix area, north of Medellín, when the paraglider lost control and crashed into a wooded area. Maman was killed at the scene, while the instructor was seriously injured and evacuated to a local hospital.
Authorities are investigating the circumstances of the crash. Strong winds and difficult weather conditions were reported in the area at the time, although no definitive cause has been established.
Israeli officials, the Israeli Embassy, and Chabad representatives in Medellín are working with Colombian authorities to arrange the return of Maman’s remains to Israel for burial.
