Jerusalem, 21 October, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s Ministry of Transport and state transit agency NTA have formally authorized construction for the country’s inaugural underground metro facility, the Ariel Sharon Park Station, marking the transition from planning to field execution for the Tel Aviv Metropolitan Metro Network.

Part of the orbital M3 Line connecting key metropolitan hubs and Ben Gurion Airport, the 25-month site preparation involves excavating 300,000 cubic meters of earth and building 38-meter-deep underground retaining walls.

The decision paves the way for NTA to issue the first tender under the 65 billion Shekels ($17.5 billion) “Infra 1” framework in coming weeks, covering five stations across Holon and Or Yehuda alongside four launch shafts for tunnel boring machines.
