Jerusalem, 7 October, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Nineteen teams comprising 31 Israeli and international infrastructure companies have passed the preliminary qualification stage for the first major tenders of the Tel Aviv metropolitan area’s NIS 65 billion ($21.285 billion) metro project.

NTA, Israel’s Urban Transport Routes company, said the qualified groups will compete for 11 construction sections covering excavation and tunneling, 59 underground stations, depots, and related infrastructure. The 59 stations represent part of the planned 109-station metro network.

Winners will be selected based on a combined assessment of price and quality.

The qualified bidders include major Israeli companies such as Electra, Denya Cebus, Shapir, Ashtrom, Tidhar, Oron, Kal Building, Rimon, Eliakim Ben-Ari and Solel Boneh, alongside international companies and partnerships from India, the United States, China, Greece, France and South Korea.

Construction is scheduled to begin in 2028, with the network’s core planned for full operation in 2037.
