Jerusalem, 23 August, 2026 (TPS-IL) — The Israel Airports Authority announced Sunday morning that it had reached an understanding with the Workers’ Committee on a series of measures aimed at stabilizing operations and reducing congestion at Ben Gurion International Airport.
The agreement comes after several days of severe disruptions that left tens of thousands of passengers facing long lines and uncertainty, at an initial estimated cost of $10 million.
Under the plan, headquarters and management employees will join field shifts, with a particular focus on baggage operations and queue management, in an effort to ease the congestion that has built up in recent days.
The Israel Airports Authority said it expected airport operations to return to normal as quickly as possible. At the same time, the authority is continuing to recruit new employees as part of preparations for the upcoming September-October holiday season.
