Jerusalem, 1 October, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israel ranked second worldwide in the volume of cyberattacks targeting it, behind only the United States, according to Microsoft’s latest annual cyber defense report.

Israel accounted for 7.6% of global cyber threat activity observed between July 2025 and June 2026, while the United States accounted for 25.5%.

Israel was also the most targeted country in the Middle East and Africa.

Iran emerged as the primary source of state-backed cyber activity targeting Israel. Microsoft reported that 64% of Iranian state-linked cyber operations worldwide were directed against Israeli targets. The attacks include espionage, disruption, and attempts to compromise sensitive systems and information.

Microsoft’s findings highlight the scale of the cyber threat facing Israel amid heightened regional tensions. The report tracks malicious activity observed by Microsoft Threat Intelligence and therefore reflects activity visible to Microsoft’s systems rather than every cyberattack globally.
